A Louisiana man was arrested Jan.11 after police reportedly traced the IP address of a computer used to solicit minors for sexual purposes to his workplace at a Baptist church.
Mitchell J. Rousse, 33, of Patterson, La., was charged with three counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of computer-aided solicitation of a juvenile for sexual purposes.
News reports of the arrest identify him as a youth minister at First Baptist Church of Morgan City, La. The March 18, 2010, edition of the Louisiana Baptist Message, however, identified Rousse as the church’s new music minister.
Morgan City police said they were contacted a week ago by investigators from the Kenner Police Department who indicated they were working a case with a suspect using a computer and soliciting minors online for sex.
First Baptist Church of Morgan City, a small town 70 miles west of New Orleans, is listed in online directories as a member of both the Louisiana Baptist and Southern Baptist conventions.
