STAFF CHANGES

Alfonso Campbell III, to New Baptist Covenant, as interim director of programs and communications.

Laurel Cluthe, to Holmeswood Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo., as pastor of families.

Adam Courtney, to Johns Creek Baptist Church, Alpharetta, Ga., as contemporary worship leader.

James Cox, to Main Street Baptist Church, Luray, Va., as worship leader. He is a retired pastor and campus chaplain at Colgate University.

Andrew Daughtery, to Pine Street Church, Boulder, Colo., as senior pastor, effective June 25. He comes from the pastorate of Calvary Baptist Church, Denver, Colo.

Isman Garcia, to Buena Vista (Va.) Baptist Church, as pastor, effective in late June.

Jill Narraway, resigning as program director for the American Baptist Youth Convention. She will become associate director of camping and youth for the West Virginia Baptist Convention, effective July 1.

Bart Tichenor, to Little Bonne Femme Baptist Church, Columbia, Mo., as pastor. He is a former pastor returning to the church after 23 years. 

RETIREMENT

Alan Tyson, retiring as pastor of Lost Bridge Community Church, Garfield, Ark. 

ORDINATIONS

Lindsey Huggins, ordained to ministry on May 21 by Woodland Heights Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.

Naomi Walker, ordained to ministry on April 23 by Immanuel Baptist Church, Frankfort, Ky., where she serves as music/worship pastor.

DEATHS

Thomas Cornell, 75, died May 26 in Weedsport, N.Y. He served as pastor of the Weedsport First Baptist Church for 23 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters, Amy and Cary; and four grandchildren.

Robert John Lacker, died May 25 in St. Joseph, Mich. He was pastor of First Baptist Church, Boston Harbor. Under his leadership, the church relocated to south St. Joseph and was renamed The American Baptist Church of St. Joseph. He is predeceased by his wife, Ruth. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret A. Krieger and Barbara Lacker-Ware; and four grandchildren.

KUDOS

Christopher Dean and Jenna Sullivan, recipients of the Daniel and Earlene Vestal Scholarship presented by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Dean is a student at Baylor’s Truett Theological Seminary and Sullivan is a student at Wake Forest University School of Divinity. The award was created in 2011 to further CBF’s commitment to theological education.

June Totten, chair of the American Baptist Committee on Christian Unity and Interfaith Relations, is the 2017 recipient of the Luke Mowbray Ecumenical Award. The award, given in recognition of a member of an American Baptist church who has made an outstanding contribution in ecumenical work at the local, state and national or international level, will be presented to her at the American Baptist Churches Biennial Mission Summit in June.

STAFF ANNIVERSARIES

Danny Chisholm, 10 years as senior pastor of University Heights Baptist Church, Springfield, Mo.

Ryan Tucker, 5 years as senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Orangeburg, S.C.
