DEATHS
Susan Hardin Frazeur died Sept. 16 at the age of 63. She was the wife of Dean Frazeur, pastor of Goochland (Va.) Baptist Church and had served with him in ministry for 20 years. A memorial service was held Sept. 19 at Goochland Baptist Church.
William P. Warnock died Sept. 5 in Lake Park, Ga. He had served churches in Georgia, Virginia and Hawaii, including pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Richmond, Va. He is survived by three sons, Blaine, Chad and William Warnock; and five grandchildren. A memorial service was held Sept. 10 at First Baptist Church, Kingsland, Ga.

News
Monument Heights Baptist Church, Richmond, Va., dedicated its new education and welcome center building expansion and renovation on Sept. 11. Designed by church architect William Henry Harris & Associates, the renovation of an existing 1951 wing resulted in a new educational facility providing additional classrooms, welcome center and preschool.
On mission
Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Va., made quite a few girls smile with the recent donation of a 1999 passenger van to Girls Inc. of Bristol. College president E. Clorisa Phillips (on left in photo at right) personally made the donation to Girls Inc. executive director Amy Barker-Phillips. Girls Inc. is a nonprofit agency offering academic enrichment activities, skill-building programs and counseling services to girls and their families. The van will be used throughout its service area from Sullivan County, Tenn., to Washington, Va.
Hilton Baptist Church, Newport News, Va., opened its doors for shelter on Saturday, Aug. 27, during Hurricane Irene. On Sunday it served a free breakfast and lunch to fire station personnel and to several hundred people without power. The following Sunday the congregation collected $18,000 for hurricane relief.
The 19th annual Klothes 4 Kids sponsored by the Lynchburg Baptist Association helped 433 children from 208 low-income families with clothing and school supplies. It was its second largest year as churches in the association donate clothing and supplies for the project.
Farmville (Va.) Baptist Church partnered with its local food pantry, the Youth Empowerment Center and Pamela LaRue to sponsor a program for students returning to school. A hot breakfast was served at the church for over 50 students and then they went to the youth center for an anti-bullying program. Afterward students received school supplies. Several area churches and business donated the back to school supplies. Pictured is the group walking from Farmville Baptist to the youth center.
A Virginia Baptist disaster relief team led by Lloyd Jackson and Marie Lawrence set up a mobile kitchen at St. Stephens (Va.) Baptist Church and prepared meals following the hurricane. The American Red Cross delivered meals while the utility companies worked to get electricity restored. The congregation expresses thanks to the team for their ministry during a few very difficult days.
