NewsJim White  |  June 5, 2011

RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia Baptist Foundation awarded a total of $93,000 in scholarships to 47 undergraduate and graduate students May 22 at its fourth annual recognition service at the Virginia Baptist Resource Center.

“It is an inspiration to learn what these individuals are doing and the ways they plan to utilize their degrees and educations,” said Ann Brown, chair of the Foundation’s scholarship committee.

Forty-seven students received scholarships from the Foundation on May 22.

The recipients were chosen from a pool of 132 applicants from 76 churches with ties to with the Baptist General Association of Virginia.

“We are exceedingly proud of these recipients,” said Ronald C. Hall, Foundation president. “Our extensive selection process seeks to discern and affirm the best of the best among the youth and leaders in BGAV churches. I too am thankful to our donors who have provided the financial support that enables us to award these scholarships annually.”

E. Stuart Crow, chair of the Foundation’s board of trustees, said, “The recipients have sound academic records but more importantly have expressed their passion to prepare themselves for the future.”
