STAFF CHANGES

• Kenny Horne, to Greenbriar Church, Vansant, as pastor.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE: Clover Bottom Baptist Church, Nathalie, celebrated the 46th year of perfect attendance in Sunday school of one of its members, Janie Crews, on Sept. 26. • Gary Wingo, to Ni River Church, Fredericksburg, as pastor.

• Terry Spencer, to Calvary Church, Newport News, as  pastor.

• Clint Conner, to Fairystone Church, Stuart, as pastor.

• J. C. Steele, resigning as pastor of Rosedale Church, Rosedale.

• Steve Johnson, resigning as pastor of Cedar Grove Church, Lebanon.

• Lester Ferguson, resigning as pastor of Brick Church, Castlewood, after having served there for 17 years.

• Roy Thomas, to Salem Church, Fredericksburg, as intentional interim pastor.

RETIREMENT

• Doug Ramsey has retired as pastor of Hillcrest Church, Ridgeway, after nearly 23 years of ministry there.

ORDINATIONS

• Diago Reyes and Joshua “Sueh” Velilla were ordained to the gospel ministry by Smyrna Church, Dinwiddie, on Sept. 5.  Reys is associate pastor of discipleship and Velilla is minister of youth.

• Kimberly Chenoweth Crowley was ordained to the gospel ministry by Grace Church, Richmond, on Sept. 5. She serves as associate pastor at Seventh Street Christian Church, Richmond.

HOMECOMINGS & REVIVALS

• Alton Church, Alton; revival Oct. 17-20; Jimmy Hinson, evangelist.

DEDICATION: Pine Chapel Baptist Church in Hampton dedicated its new youth activity building Aug. 29. Through the generosity of its members, the building was debt free on the day that construction was finished. • Wallers Church, Partlow; homecoming Oct. 24; Benford Latyeba and Andries Ngontsa from Jehovah/Nissi Church of the Grasslands, South Africa, speakers; “Calvary’s Mercy,” special music; luncheon following.

DEATH

• Ira Fielden Tolliver, retired pastor of Mountain Pass Church, Salem, died Sept. 19 at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia. A funeral service was held Sept. 22. 

OTHER

• Wayne D. Hannah was elected as pastor emeritus during the 75th anniversary service at Pleasant View Church, Patrick Springs. He had served as its pastor for 10 years prior to retirement. He currently serves as director of missions of the Blue Ridge Association.

• Courtland Church, Courtland, will dedicate its new worship center and fellowship hall on Oct. 24 at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will follow.
