ORDINATION
• George Scutt, music director at Sunset Hills Church in Alexandria, was ordained to the gospel ministry by the church on April 17.
CHURCH NEWS
• Arbor Church, Amelia Courthouse, will celebrate 130 years of ministry on June 27 with homecoming at 10:30 a.m. Dinner on the grounds will follow with a 1:00 p.m. concert by Smokey Wilson.
• Cobham Park Church, Warsaw, will celebrate its 125th anniversary with homecoming on July 25. A memorial marker that will be placed on the site of the old church will be dedicated. Revival services will be held July 25-28 with Mark Becton as evangelist.
• James Square Church, Lawrenceville will hold homecoming on July 11 with Raymond Stiles as guest speaker. Revival will be July 12-14 with Jonathan Vandermark.
DEATHS
• James Winston Crawley died June 14 at the age of 90. He devoted more than 60 years to international mission service, leadership and scholarship. As secretary of the Orient for the Foreign [now International] Mission Board, he teamed with then executive secretary, Baker James Cauthen, to more than double the number of missionaries in the region. He was the board’s first director of overseas operations; and in 1980, he became the board’s first vice president of planning and pioneered research and strategic functions that radically changed the way Southern Baptists did missions around the world. He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret, who was his mission partner for 57 years. Survivors include a son, Winston Jr.; two daughters, Anne Fairchild and Joy Bazemore; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held June 18 at Derbyshire Church, Richmond.
• Shirley A. Mounts, widow of Slater C. Mounts, former pastor of Jahnke Road Church in Richmond died May 24. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Redmon and Sharon Mounts; a son, Scott; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held May 29 at Jahnke Road Church.
• Clarine J. Pickens, widow of former Virginia Baptist pastor James G. Pickens Sr., died May 24. She is survived by a son, James Jr., and two grandchildren. A memorial service was held May 28 at Derbyshire Church, Richmond.
