RICHMOND — The Virginia Baptist Foundation has awarded a $1,500 grant to the Shiloh Baptist Association to replace the association’s disaster response trailer.
The trailer, purchased in 2005, has been a valuable tool for the association, a fellowship of about 30 congregations in the city of Culpeper and surrounding counties. It was used in Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts and during winterization of a 4-H camp building maintained by the Adirondack (N.Y.) Baptist Association. The trailer has also been used in projects of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board’s Impact Virginia as well as various SBA member church construction projects.
“The Foundation’s grant program has awarded 30 grants totaling over $916,000 since the ministry began in 2006,” said Ronald C. Hall, president and CEO of the Foundation. “However, due to the sustained economic downturn, unfortunately we were unable to approach the previous year’s levels of support. This year we received 18 requests totaling nearly $400,000 from various Virginia Baptist ministry partners and were inspired by the Shiloh Baptist Association’s ministry efforts.”
Grant applications for 2011 will be available on the Foundation’s website (www. vbfinc.org) in November 2010.
