• Francisco Muniz, to Clover Bottom Church, Nathalie, as pastor.

• Jeff Scott, to Northside Church, Mechanicsville, as senior pastor.

• Rusty Mullins, to First Church, Radford, as part-time site pastor for the church’s second campus, The Bridge. The new site will be geared to reach college students and young adult singles and families.

• Clint Conner, to Fairystone Church, Stuart, as pastor.

• Kevin Moen, to Oakland Church, Gum Spring, as pastor.

• Maceo Freeman, to Saint Paul’s Church, Richmond, as campus pastor at its new Elm Street location.

• Larry Stinson and Eugene Whited, to Blackey Church, Hurley, as co-associate pastors.

• Ben Sturgis, to Orchard Drive Church, Bassett, as interim pastor.

• Edward “Bish” Creel, to Beaverdam Church, Vinton, as interim pastor.

• Erin Spengeman, concluding her ministry at Westover Church, Richmond, to become co-pastor of Synago Church, a new church start in the VCU/Fan area of Richmond.

• Julie Filer, to First Church, Bluefield, W.Va., as minister to youth.

• Tony Ramirez, concluding his ministry as care minister at Cool Spring Church, Mechanicsville.

• Craig R. McCoy, concluding his ministry at First Church, Martinsville, to become minister of music at University Church, Chapel Hill, N.C.

CHURCH NEWS

• Derbyshire Church, Richmond, will host a concert by the 75-member ‘Gloria Deo!’ Festival Chorus on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. For additional information call the church at 740-7238, ext. 23.

• “Immersed,” featuring the vocals and compositions of Lee Catherine Clayton and Cammie Shelatz, will lead in contemporary worship at Monument Heights Church, Richmond, on Sept. 26 at 11 a.m.

DEATHS

• Retired Virginia Baptist minister William George Bond died June 4 at the age of 99. He had served as pastor of churches in Kentucky and North Carolina, as well as First Baptist, Virginia Beach, and Calvary Church, Bowling Green. He had served on the staff of Derbyshire Church in Richmond and Freemason Street Church in Norfolk. He is survived by a son, Marvin; and two granddaughters. A graveside service was held June 9 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond.

• Evelyn Moore Kenney, wife of retired pastor R. Furman Kenney, died Sept. 5 in Newport News. She served as minister’s wife in two Virginia Baptist churches–Smithfield in Smithfield and Park View in Newport News. In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Col. (Ret.) Robert F. Kenney Jr.; a daughter, Martha Lynn Kenney; an adopted daughter, Ann Deibert; and two grandsons. A funeral service was held Sept. 7 at North Riverside Church in Newport News.
