RICHMOND, Va. — First Baptist Church in Alexandria, Va., led churches affiliated with the Baptist General Association of Virginia last year in both in total Cooperative Missions giving and in contributions to the Virginia portion of Cooperative Missions gifts, according to the BGAV’s treasurer’s office.
In 2009 the church contributed $446,142 to Cooperative Missions and $294,454 to the Virginia portion.
Mappsville (Va.) Baptist Church topped the list of BGAV churches in per capita contributions to total Cooperative Missions, giving an average of $534 per person.
Rounding out the top 10 churches in total CM gifts in 2009 were Bon Air Baptist Church in Richmond, First Baptist Church in Richmond, Franklin Heights Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, First Baptist Church in Charlottesville, Great Bridge Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Bonsack Baptist Church in Roanoke, Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Danville, Second Baptist Church in Richmond and Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church.
