Ronald C. Hall has been named president and chief executive officer of the Virginia Baptist Foundation Inc.
Hall was elected, effectively immediately, by the Foundation's board of trustees at its semi-annual meeting May 5.
He succeeds Timothy K. Norman, who retired in October 2004.
Hall, 45, has been director of communications and public relations for the Foundation since 1996. In that capacity he served as a member of a fundraising team that raised $64 million and distributed $30 million to various Virginia Baptist and other charitable causes.
He also was editor of The Sower, the Foundation's quarterly newsletter, and of Smart Planning … Wise Giving, the biannual newsletter of the donor-advised fund of the Virginia Baptist Financial Services Corp.
Hall also is co-author of Planned Giving Matters, a guide to a church's planned giving and estate planning ministry.
“I am honored to serve our Lord and Virginia Baptists in this capacity,” said Hall. “I stand on the shoulders of countless persons, including committed board members, a gifted staff, a supportive family and my predecessors Drs. Bryant, Honts, Mobley and Norman, who faithfully served as clarions in this ministry. I am humbled by this opportunity and place of service among Virginia Baptists.”
Before his service with the Foundation, Hall was pastor of Dover Baptist Church in Manakin-Sabot and associate pastor of education and youth at Lakeside Baptist Church in Richmond.
He is a graduate of Bluefield College in Bluefield; Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.; and the National Planned Giving Institute at the College of William and Mary. He also has done continuing education studies at the University of Richmond and is a member of the Virginia Planned Giving Council.
Hall and his wife, Sarah, have two daughters. They are members of Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond.
