Registration opens for SBC childcare

NewsReligious Herald  |  February 14, 2006

Registration is now open for families planning to enroll their children in the preschool childcare or the children's conference from June 11-14 in conjunction with the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in Greensboro, N.C.

For all information regarding registration, visit www.sbc.net and click on “2006 SBC Annual Meeting” then “Children/Students.”

Preschool childcare

Childcare for infants through 2-year-olds will be available from Sunday afternoon through Wednesday. (For children 3 and older, see below.) A $10 one-time nonrefundable registration fee is charged for each child. For each session, a $5 per child fee is charged, with a maximum charge of $40 per family for the full four days of childcare. Lunch will be available for the preschool children on Monday and Tuesday for a cost of $5 per lunch. Complete payment is due for all sessions and for lunch, if requested, upon arrival for the first session. Please be prepared to pay by check made out to Pleasant Garden Baptist Church.

Registration information may be obtained in one of three ways:

• Emailing [email protected], including the sender's name and address.

• Downloading a set of forms for each child at www.sbc.net, Children/Students

• Writing to SBC Childcare, Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, P.O. Box 157, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313.

To assure your child is registered, applications and fees must be submitted promptly. Once the completed forms and registration fee for each child are received, a family ID number will be assigned and a confirmation packet with a family confirmation card, parent handbook, security information and procedures for check-in and check-out will be sent.

The postmark deadline for preschool childcare registration is May 19 and is limited to 150 children. Parents wanting to register their children after May 19 may print the required information and bring it to Greensboro, where they will be registered on-site on a space-available basis. Questions about this year's childcare can be directed to Tricia Jackson at (336) 674-5382.

Children's conference

Children ages 3-4 will be part of the children's conferences, along with other age-graded conferences for ages 5-9 and 10-12.

Children's Conferences International will provide an age-graded, Scripture-based conference for all children ages 3-12. This year's theme, “Rescue 109,” will include songs, crafts, skits, games and an obstacle course and perhaps a visit from local fire and rescue personnel who will share how they serve their cities.

The cost for the children's conference is $45 per child. However, only $20 is required per child to register, which is nonrefundable. The balance (an additional $25 per child) is due upon arrival at the conference, although advance payments for the full amount may be made.

To register, visit www.sbc.net, then click on children/students section, or directly to www.childrensconferences.com, then click on Greensboro.

All children's programs will be held in The Pavillion of the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The general schedule for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is as follows (as the convention dates draw nearer, the schedule will be updated with specifics for each day):

7:30 a.m. – Pavillion opens for child dropoff; late registration/payment area opens.

8:30 a.m. – Children's program begins.

12:00 p.m. – Parents pick up children for lunch; Pavillion closes for lunch hour.

12:45 p.m. – Pavillion reopens for child dropoff (except for Wednesday).

1:30 p.m. – Children's program begins (except for Wednesday).

5:00 p.m. – Parents pick up children; Pavillion closes for dinner.

5:45 p.m. – Pavillion reopens for child dropoff.

6:30 p.m. – Children's program begins.

9:30 p.m. – Parents pick up children; Pavillion closes for the evening

Questions about this year's children's conference program can be phoned to Children's Conferences International at (317) 336-6101 or e-mailed to [email protected]. The deadline for enrollment is May 19 and is limited to 400 children. Parents wanting to register their children after May 19 may inquire at the first session, where they will be registered on-site on a space-available basis.
