STAFF CHANGES

Jason Booth, to Zoan Church, Fredericksburg, as pastor.

Rob Tennant, resigning as pastor of Greenbrier Church, Arlington, to accept the pastorate of HillSong Church, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Ryan Snodgrass, to Spring Hill Church, Ruckersville, as site pastor for Spring Hill Seminole.

Brian Hamrick, resigning as pastor of Fairfields Church, Burgess, effective Sept. 3, to accept the pastorate of First Church, Clewiston, Florida.

Charles Gibson, to Providence Church, Red House, as intentional interim pastor.

William Kendrick, concluding his interim pastorate at Bethel Church, Salem.

Michael W. Jackson, resigning as associate pastor of Southampton Church, Richmond.

Katie McKown, to Memorial Church, Arlington, as assistant pastor for family ministries.

Benjamin Boswell,to Baptist Temple Church, Alexandria, as associate pastor for youth and children.

Larry Correll, to First Church, Winchester, as organist. He had been serving as interim organist.

Brian and Wendy Crowe, resigning as associate pastor and education minister, respectively, at Ridge Church, Richmond, to accept the call to a church in Knoxville, Tenn.

Abby Thornton, to Freemason Street Church, Norfolk, as minister of spiritual formation and Christian education.

Tricia Buchanan, resigning as minister to preschool/children at Mount Hermon Church, Danville.

Seth Horrell, resigning as minister of youth at Hull's Memorial Church, Fredericksburg.

Virginia Ryan, resigning as music director at New Highland Church, Mechanicsville.

Jen Zindle, to Spring Hill Church, Ruckersville, as children's ministry leader.

ORDINATIONS

Jane Tucker Lyon was ordained to the gospel ministry on June 11 by Clarksville Church, Clarksville.

Robyn Gross, Jevon Newman, Lloyd Parker Jr., Ayana Robinson, GeorgiAnna Sheppard and Malcolm Willis were ordained to the gospel ministry on June 25 by Mount Pleasant Church, Herndon.

RETIREMENTS

Jim Steele has announced plans to retire as pastor of Boones Mill Church, Boones Mill, effective Jan. 1.

Jack Marcom will retire as pastor of Friendship Church, Fredericksburg, effective Sept. 15.

DEATH

Robert S. Alley, a humanities professor emeritus at the University of Richmond and an authority on church-state relations, died Aug. 14 at the age of 74. The son of Reuben E. Alley, former editor of the Religious Herald, he had received a First Freedom Award from the Council for America's First Freedom in honor of his church-state expertise. He is survived by his wife, Norma Franklin Crane Alley; two sons, Robert S. Alley Jr. and John R. Alley; and a brother, Reuben R. Alley. A memorial service will be held Aug. 31 at 4:00 p.m. at the University of Richmond chapel.

CHURCH NEWS

Glenwood Memorial Church, Danville, honored its pastor Averette Witcher and his family on July 30 on his 50 years in the gospel ministry. They were presented several gifts by the church.

ASSOCIATIONAL NEWS

Petersburg Baptist Association's Centennial Celebration will be held Sept. 10 at 3:00 p.m. at West End Church, Petersburg. The program will feature Fred Anderson, executive director of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society. Keynote speaker is John “Jack” Patterson, director of missions of Mid-Tidewater Association. Music will be provided by a mass choir from association churches.

Oakwood Memorial Church,Richmond; 90th anniversary/homecoming on Sept. 10; revival Sept. 10-13; Howard Baldwin, guest evangelist.
