Carl Burger, to Mount Tabor Church, Keeling, as senior pastor.

Roger Eunice, to Laurel Grove Church, Sutherlin, as senior pastor.

Gary Tucker, to Shermont Church, Danville, as senior pastor.

Michael Wright, resigning as pastor of Covington Church, Covington, to return to the mission field.

Michael Simpson, resigning as minister of music at Ginter Park Church, Richmond, to accept a similar position at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Michael Ovack, to Mount Hermon Church, Danville, as interim youth
minister.

Shawn Allen, to Gayton Church, Richmond, as pastor of worship arts and
outreach.

Debbie Dixon, to Ringgold Church, Ringgold, as youth director.

Connie Scruggs, to Rivermont Church, Danville, as part-time minister to
children.

ORDINATION

Archer McIntire was ordained to the gospel ministry on July 9 by College Park Church, Danville.

CHURCH NEWS

Beaver Dam Church, Troy, will celebrate homecoming on Aug. 13 Guest speaker will be Daniel Vestal. Special music will be provided by “Zion Song” from Orange. A traditional lunch will follow the worship service.

The music ministry of Derbyshire Church, Richmond, will present the 10th annual “Good Ol' Gospel Sing” on Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. Featured in this concert will be selections by various trios, quartets, the choir and “Dominion.” An old-fashioned watermelon cutting on the front lawn will follow the service.

Emmaus Church, Quinton, will celebrate its 230th anniversary with homecoming on Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. Dinner will follow at 12:30 with a Musical Celebration at 2:30 p.m.

First Church, Coeburn, will celebrate its 125th anniversary with homecoming on Aug. 13. There will be special music and dinner on the grounds following the
service.

Gourdvine Church, Rixeyville, will celebrate its 215th anniversary with homecoming Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. Revival services will be held Aug. 13-18 with Willis Dempsey as speaker and evangelist for homecoming and revival. Kings Travelers will be guest musicians on Aug. 18.

Grace Church, Ridgeway, will celebrate homecoming on Aug. 6 with David Taylor as guest speaker.

New Hope Church, Appomattox, will hold revival services beginning at 11 a.m. on Aug. 13 and continuing at 7:30 each evening through Aug. 16. Guest evangelist will be Roger Roller.

New Zion Church, Skippers, will hold homecoming on Aug. 13 and revival services Aug. 13-16. Larry Grizzard, pastor of Mount Vernon Church, will be guest speaker and evangelist.

Homecoming for Nomini Church, Montross, will be Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. Clayton W. Custalow, pastor of New Hope Baptist Assembly near Tappahannock, will be guest speaker. Dinner on the grounds will follow. Revival will be Aug. 14-16 with Custalow as evangelist.

OTHER

Randall Clarke is now serving as chaplain at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham.

RETIREMENT

Second Church, Richmond, honored Lela Richmond for 38 years of loyal service to the church staff and membership on June 25. She will retire upon the hiring and training of a new executive secretary. Richmond came to Second Church shortly after the congregation moved from downtown Richmond to its present location. She began as a part-time secretary for the minister of education and later became the executive secretary for Raymond L. Spence Jr. A reception was held in her honor.
