As I read my daily newspaper dated Feb. 25, I saw the article, “Southern Baptists weighing control of auxiliary.”
Well, this old WMU leader and member of years felt as though I was standing in the presence of Pharisees and I was glad that we are an auxiliary and not a part of the Southern Baptist board and it is my hope that we will never be a part.
Even the article had to admit we have stood on our own and contributed millions of dollars to missions.
Lottie Moon must be spinning like a top right now to think that those coming behind her must be controlled! Right now China is on a great brink of Christian converts and those seeds were planted years ago by Lottie Moon herself and those she taught have carried her message through generations! Mission fields worldwide have been the benefactors of the mission contributions generated by WMU!
You have taken control of our mission fields and the result has been division and unrest. In my opinion, you have undermined the network of missions that at one time was the best network in the world, bar none.
In Romans 8:31, it says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Let us not become legalistic as in the days gone by. Let our work go forward. Don't put on your elaborate robes with the bells at the hems so all can see you are in control!
