Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress will join a slate of Republican politicians as a keynote speaker at an upcoming “Road to Majority” conference, billed as “the nation’s largest public policy gathering of conservative Christian activists and leaders.”
Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas, is a well-known supporter of President Donald Trump and is a frequent commentator on Fox News.
The June 26-28 event at the Washington Hilton is sponsored by Faith and Freedom Coalition, which is led by Ralph Reed. Upon the group’s founding in 2009, he called it “a 21st century version of the Christian Coalition” and a bridge between the Tea Party movement and evangelical voters.
Jeffress is one of four pastors identified as keynoters, including Paula White, a Pentecostal televangelist who heads Trump’s White House Faith Office; Lorenzo Sewell, who delivered a fiery benediction at Trump’s January inaugural; and Mark Burns, a South Carolina pastor and televangelist who also is an ardent Trump supporter.
Also on the docket is former Southern Baptist journalist Todd Starnes, who was fired from Fox News and all affiliates after he endorsed the notion that American Democrats worship a pagan god, Moloch. In January 2020, Starnes launched his own radio show.
They will join at least a dozen Republican legislators and controversial American historian Eric Metaxas, who is a 2020 election denier. Also confirmed are Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin.
Legislators listed as speakers include Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri, Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio; Whip Tom Emmer of Minnesota, Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, Rep. Lisa McClain of Michigan, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Rep. Barry Loudermilk of Georgia, Rep. Brian Jack of Georgia, and Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa.
“This year’s conference is critical for our grassroots activists. They achieved historic victories in 2024 and need to match that in the midterms,” Reed said. “We planned this conference to give them the tools they need to increase grassroots engagement and maximize voter turnout.”
