RICHMOND — Bluefield College awarded 13 $1,000 music scholarships to high school Baptist students during the Virginia Baptist All-State Youth Choir sponsored by the Virginia Baptist Mission Board at Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond.
The recipients were Lauren Coburn of First Baptist Church in Ashland, Keith Filer of First Baptist Church in Bluefield, Kim Godbey of Burrows Memorial Baptist Church in Norfolk, Justin Gray of First Baptist Church in Richmond, Ashleigh Hutcheson of First Baptist Church in Ashland, Natalie Liscio of Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond, Ezra Marsh of First Baptist Church in Ashland, Brian Haver of Winfree Memorial Baptist Church in Midlothian, Ashley Hemphill of Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond, Courtney Schwoebel of Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond, Stephen Sloan of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Danville, Taylor Williams of Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond, and Emily Wolfe of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Danville.
“This is an outstanding example of how the ministries of higher education and the Mission Board can work together to provide not only outstanding memories and experiences, but also training that will benefit all of the participants throughout their lives as they sing, praise, and worship our Heavenly Father as church members, leaders and church musicians,” said Tom Ingram, the board's coordinator of worship and church music ministries.
