• Mark Reon, to Jackson Memorial Church, Chesapeake, as pastor, effective Jan. 1.

• Jamie Mann, to Nash's Chapel Church, Wise, as interim pastor.

• Glen McCune, to Chamberlayne Church, Richmond, as minister of music.

 Franklin

HYMN FESTIVAL
“Joined Together as One Body” was the theme for a Hymn Festival held Sept. 28 at Franklin Baptist Church in Franklin. A massed choir, representing 12 local congregations, formed the Festival Choir and clergy from five parishes provided commentary on the hymns. Dean Kersaw, organist/choirmaster at West End Baptist in Suffolk, served as organist. The organ was augmented by a brass quartet and handbell ringers. The festival was conducted by Steven R. Gibson, minister of music at Franklin Baptist.

• Chris Gourley, to Chamberlayne Church, Richmond, as minister of youth.

• Correction: Jim Price has resigned as pastor of Rivermont Church, Gate City.

CHURCH NEWS

• Thaxton Church, Thaxton, will dedicate its new multi-purpose worship center on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. A celebration meal will follow the service.

CHRISTMAS MUSIC & DRAMA

• Colonial Avenue Church, Roanoke; “An Evening in December,” Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.

• First Church, Richmond; “Child of Light,” Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.

LIVING NATIVITY

• New Salem Church, Culpeper; Living Nativity, Dec. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

• Southview Church, Herndon; Living Nativity, Dec. 5 and 6 from 7 to 9 p.m.

RECOGNITION
