A LOCAL ‘IMPACT VIRGINIA’: Youth from Providence Baptist Church in Red House and from the community participated in “Impact Red House” from July 20-24. It was the community’s version of Impact Virginia. The team helped a disabled couple with outside cleaning and improvements. Another home needed improvements and paint on the exterior. A third home received significant improvement on a large deck with the replacement of some boards, power washing and a fresh coat of stain. Red House, like many areas across Virginia, is experiencing a recession. These teams and their leaders wanted to set an example of serving others in the name of Jesus Christ. From left, team members in front of the home of Deloris Scott are (first row) Bill Wells, Morgan Barksdale, Kelsie Barksdale, David Cheatham (kneeling), Kim Collins, Jennifer Hicks, Matthew Homan (minister of youth/children); (second row) Gunnar Nelson, Olivia Bennett, Samantha Spedavecchis, Leslie Shafer and Deloris Scott.
