You grew up in a house across from mine in Homewood, Alabama. You were a little awkward, but smart as a whip, a little shy but well-spoken. I would be mowing the grass and see you walking by, and we would say hello. You had what appeared to be a lovely family, a nurturing mom and dad, and accomplished younger siblings. As the oldest, you seemed to carry responsibilities beyond your years.
