STAFF CHANGES

• J. Lytle Buckingham, to Sharon Church, King William, as pastor.

• Bill and Mary Dell Sigler, resigning as co-pastors of Kilmarnock Church, Kilmarnock, effective June 15. She will become a bereavement and spiritual care coordinator for Hospice of Virginia.

• Dan Ficklin, concluding his ministry as pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church, Richmond, in June.

• Tim Mathia, resigning as pastor of Mentow Church, Huddleston.

• John Sewell, to Saluda Church, Saluda, as interim pastor.

• Kathy Hulin, resigning as minister of music at Woodland Heights Church, Richmond, effective June 30.

• Randy Markel, resigning as minister of music at Mount Vernon Church, Glen Allen, effective May 31.

• Rob Petrini, to Southview Church, Herndon, as minister of music.

• Donna Hughes, resigning as music director at First Church, Woodstock.

MISSION MOMENTS

The Women's Missionary Union ladies at Black Creek Church, Franklin, recently provided soup for the homebound and community elderly as a mission project. ORDINATION

• Alan Harris, minister of children at Antioch Church, Fairfax Station, was ordained to the gospel ministry on February 18.

RETIREMENT

• Richard Headley has announced plans to retire as pastor of Shiloh Church, King George.

DEATHS

• Eugene Foreman, pastor emeritus of Boulevard Church in Falls Church, died on Feb. 17. He was living in the Midwest at the time of his death.

• Wallace Hale died on Feb. 18 in Texas at the age of 92. He was an Army chaplain from 1939 to 1967. He was founding pastor of Fairfax Circle Church, Fairfax. Hale also served as pastor of Ox Hill Church, Chantilly, and Waterford Church, Waterford.

CHURCH NEWS

• Broadus Memorial Church, Mechanicsville, held a Building Dedication Service on April 29 at 10:30 a.m. The church is located at 5351 Pole Green Road. Light refreshments and an open house followed the service.

• Grace Filipino Church, Woodbridge, has purchased 5 acres of land in Price William County for its new church building.

REVIVALS & HOMECOMINGS

• Hill Creek Church, Vansant, will celebrate its 70th anniversary May 19-20.

• Laurel Fork Church, Rocky Gap; revival May 13-16; Roger Roller, guest evangelist.

• Wilroy Church, Suffolk; revival May 6-9; Roger Roller, guest evangelist.

 Boykins

BEAR DAY

March 1 was Bear Day at Boykins Church in Boykins. A group of 17 ladies met and stuffed 117 bears to be given to the Children's Hospital of King's Daughters in Norfolk. Each child admitted to the hospital is given a bear. The ladies enjoyed the day together and helping the children who will receive them. CONFERENCES

• How To Break the 100/200 Barrier. Pastors and church leaders are invited to Courtland Church, Courtland, on Tuesday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for this conference. It will address the three major factors which keep 75 percent of churches in America below the 100 average weekly attendance. Cost is $10 which includes lunch and a book. Reservations are needed and can be made by calling the church at 757-653-2945 or emailing trspeight@verizon. net.

• Virginia Baptist Media Library Association will hold its Spring Conference May 18-20 at Eagle Eyrie Baptist Conference Center in Lynchburg. Eva Nell Hunter, a LifeWay guest consultant, from Decatur, Georgia, will lead the conference. For additional information on the conference, check the VBMLA website at www.vachurchlibrary.org.
