STAFF CHANGES

Randy Ashcraft, to the Center for Healthy Churches, as congregational consultant. Most recently he served as pastor in residence for the Baptist General Association of Virginia.

George Bullard, concluding his tenure as president of the North American Baptist Fellowship, one of six global regions affiliated with the Baptist World Alliance, effective July 31.

Rothangliani Rema Chhangte, concluding her tenure as director of Baptist World Aid, the relief and development arm of the Baptist World Alliance, effective March 16.

Don Harvey, to the Center for Healthy Churches, as congregational consultant. He currently serves as pastor of Midway Baptist Church, Amherst, Va.

Brian Williams, concluding his tenure as transition pastor at Spring Hill Baptist Church, Ruckersville, Va.

ORDINATION

Jacob K. Kilikpo, ordained to ministry on March 13 by Calvary Baptist Church, Allentown, Pa.

DEATHS

B. C. Akers, 81, died March 9 in Waynesboro, Va. He served as music director at First Baptist Church, Kissimmee, Fl., and Calvary Baptist Church, Raleigh, N.C. He was pastor of Connaritsa Baptist Church, Aulander, N.C.; Western Branch Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va.; and for 28 years as pastor of his last church in Waynesboro. After retirement he served as pastoral care ministry coordinator at First Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Va., for 11 years. He served on the Virginia Baptist General Board from 1990-1996. He is predeceased by his first wife, Frances; and a daughter, Mary Alice Florey. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee; children, Laura Lynn Akers; Gary Akers; Sherrie Burns; David Cupp; Jamie (Danielle) Morrison; and Carla Henderson; and 12 grandchildren.

Frank R. Campbell, 80, died March 22 in Danville, Va. He served as president of Averett University for 17 years; interim president of Gardner-Webb University; and the executive director of Stratford House. Prior to assuming the presidency at Averett University, he was pastor of First Baptist Church, Statesville, N.C., for 19 years. He also served as pastor for English Creek Baptist Church, Newport, Tenn.; Corinth and Peace’s Chapel Baptist churches in Oxford, N.C.; and New Hope Baptist Church, Raleigh, N.C. He was president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina from 1981-1983. He served as professor of religion at Averett, adjunct faculty for Gardner-Webb University and supervisor for doctoral students at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is survived by his wife, Janet; two daughters, Catherine C. Burgess and Donna C. Burki; and four grandchildren.

George Arthur Fleming, 88, died March 15 in Moseley, Va. He served as pastor of Perkins Baptist Church, Goochland, Va., and Mount Hermon Baptist Church, Moseley, where he served for 30 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Lillian, whom he married after the death of his first wife, Billie Sue, after 52 years of marriage; a daughter, Monnie Sue Fleming Kesler; three sons, Ray, David and Corey; stepdaughter, Joanne Golden Elmore; stepson Jimmy Golden; and seven grandchildren.

Jennifer Davis Rash, 20 years on staff of the The Alabama Baptist newspaper, including the past five years as executive editor. Last year editor Bob Terry celebrated his 20th anniversary at the paper.

Ross Lankford, 10 years as minister of discipleship and outreach at First Baptist Church, Pensacola, Fl.
