OTTAWA, Kan. (ABP) — Vermont educator Fred Snow has become the new president of Ottawa University in Kansas, one of the largest schools affiliated with American Baptist Churches USA.
Snow, who worked for 10 years as vice president and dean of Norwich University in Vermont, took office July 1. He replaces James Billick, who served as interim president of Ottawa University for the past year.
Based in Ottawa, Kan., the university was founded in 1865.
“We believe Dr. Snow is a strong leader who will drive the expansion of our educational programs while being devoted to academic quality,” Patricia Wolf, chair of the board of trustees and presidential search committee, said in a written statement. “He is a person of faith who will demonstrate strong Christian values in his leadership of the university.”
In a university release, Snow said he planned to “leverage” the school's past into a “significant strengthening, improvement and expansion of this organization.”
