UNEDITED NEWS RELEASLE — Belton, Texas — Ted Barnes has been named dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
Barnes most recently served at Ouachita Baptist University teaching in the area of graphic design. Prior to OBU, he was the chair of the Division of Visual and Performing Arts at Louisiana College for 11 years and the art department for 14 years.
Barnes has taught art at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana; Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky; Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana; Campbellsville College in Campbellsville, Kentucky; University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
He served as the interim curator at the Alexandria Museum of Art in Alexandria, Louisiana and assistant art director at Halbleib and Moll Associates, Inc., Advertising/Marketing in Louisville, Kentucky.
Barnes has supervised hundreds of art exhibits and student art competitions. Much of his own art has been on exhibit over the past 22 years from California to Florida.
Barnes received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in studio art from Ouachita Baptist; two master's degrees, an M.A. in art education from Western Kentucky University and a M.F.A. in painting from the University of Arkansas; and was a visiting scholar in art doing post-graduate research at Regent's Park College, Oxford University, Oxford, England with a concentration in spiritual imagery.
