CORDOVA, Tenn. (ABP) — Adrian Rogers, one of the most prominent pastors in America, had successful heart bypass surgery March 16.
Rogers, pastor of the 27,000-member Bellevue Baptist Church in suburban Memphis, Tenn., was president of the Southern Baptist Convention three times and a key leader in the conservative movement in the SBC.
A routine follow-up exam and tests March 15 discovered cardiovascular blockages, according to church spokesman Larry Thompson. No heart damage had occurred, Thompson said, and Rogers did not experience a heart attack or other symptoms.
Rogers is expected to make a full recovery and return to the church's pulpit in a few weeks, Thompson said.
