Baptist Standard Publishing launches test phase of FaithVillage site

NewsABPnews  |  February 29, 2012

 Associated Baptist Press

The website is a new ministry of Baptist Standard Publishing, parent company of the Baptist Standard. The 123-year-old organization will continue to publish the newspaper and its digital news products.

FaithVillage.com will provide Christian community and an array of Christian resources in a single website. Content ranges from marriage and parenting, to missions and ministry, Bible study and leadership development, videos and blogs and podcasts, worship and spiritual growth, and numerous other topics.

Users of FaithVillage.com navigate the site by scrolling along streets of a virtual village. Buildings represent entryways into separate channels of information, such as Scriptura, the center for Bible study, or Momzie, the section for mothers and parenting. So, each building represents the equivalent of a website for that particular topic.

FaithVillage.com is built on a social networking platform. Registered users receive their own “Loft” profile page on which they can comment and post photographs, and from which they can form groups and communicate directly with their friends.

The FaithVillage “beta” testing phase will last a few months, while early users help the staff improve functionality, and while the staff adds new content and features.
