In these troubled times, we now pay tribute to our savior.
It is in you we find our safety and security. It is to you we run when we are threatened; when our enemies come against our children and our families, we turn to you.
How foolish we were to trust in our own power; how helpless we are without you. In our homes, our streets, and even our churches, we have forgotten to keep you close. Forgive us when we falter.
Those who do not seek you run in fear at the sound of your voice. Let those who know you as king stand firm.
There are those who want to keep you out of our schools and neighborhoods, but we trust in your promise.
We are not ashamed of you. Those in other lands may mock us, some may keep their distance, some may try to lead us another way. Even so, our commitment to you remains steadfast. You are the true ruler of this great country. At your name, every knee must bow; our leaders and our courts must always submit first to you.
The longer we trust in you, the more powerful you become. We glory in your majesty. You have shown your power again and again.
We have been faithful to you for hundreds of years. Our forefathers could not have imagined the might you now display among us.
With you, our hearts are secure. We carry you as a belt at our waist and as a sword in our right hand. We seek to take you wherever we go, and to show our allegiance to you.
You are more precious to us than life itself. Forgive us for seeking after our own well-being; pardon our foolishness in putting too much value on this earthly life.
You are close to the brokenhearted. You are always present and have provided a way for the drug addicted, the violent and the depressed. Even young children have seen your power and have come to you in their innocence.
To you we entrust our lives. We hope for the day when everyone will know you, from the least to the greatest. We long for the day that we no longer have to defend your name against those who would blaspheme it.
The blood you have shed is the price of our freedom. You rain down on the righteous and the unrighteous.
We are one nation under you. As the unfaithful now come against you once again, may our resolve be sure; may our feet stand firm. We will seek you first; nothing comes before you.
Yes, we pledge our allegiance to you once again, our true savior …
