As Advent begins on Sunday, Dec. 2, Passport Inc. continues its Following the Star daily online devotionals and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship has made available videos of Advent sermons preached by Jim Somerville, pastor of First Baptist Church in Richmond.
Passport, a youth camping ministry formed in 1993, launched Following the Star in 2001 to supplement previously developed Advent materials in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Today d365.org posts daily devotions and three seasonal series for Lent, Advent and the beginning of the school year. They are accessible at www.d365.org.
This year’s writers include Amy Butler, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Washington. David Burroughs, Passport president and a published composer, recorded original piano arrangements to accompany the daily devotions.
Joining Passport as sponsors are the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Presbyterian Church (USA). The devotional series continues through Epiphany, Jan. 6.
The CBF’s missional congregations initiative area has made Somerville’s sermons available here, along with suggested ways to use them.
Both Passport’s and the CBF’s Advent resources may be downloaded free.
