BLUEFIELD—A Virginian's love for Christian ministry will result in more trained ministers, thanks to an endowed scholarship established in his memory at Bluefield College.
Sheridan Williams of Max Meadows wanted to preserve the legacy of her husband, Elbert Williams, and honor his love for Christian education through the Elbert F. Williams Jr. and Sheridan L. Williams Endowed Scholarship for Ministry and Missions at Bluefield.
Candidates for the Williams Scholarship should have a sensed call to full-time Christian ministry or missions, including youth, music, drama or pastoral ministries. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need.
Preference for scholarship awards will be given to students from Wythe County and recipients will be eligible.
Though they had no connection to the school, Mrs. Williams said she and her husband selected Bluefield College because of its mission and its commitment to the Appalachian region.
