Braxton Wade has been named a Clemons Fellow with Baptist News Global. Beginning Jan. 5, he will join the group of regular BNG writers producing news, analysis and opinion pieces.
A Richmond, Va., native, Wade currently is a business leader seeking to re-enter vocational ministry. He has served in multiple pastoral roles across multiple churches and denominations. His passion is racial reconciliation and justice, spiritual formation and the restoration of humankind.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Richmond and a master of divinity degree from Chicago Theological Seminary.
BNG’s Clemons Fellowship is named for Ardelle and Hardy Clemons, longtime Baptist leaders who were instrumental in launching Associated Baptist Press in 1990. The program is funded by two endowments, one named for the Clemonses and one named for founding ABP board member Gene Puckett of North Carolina.
Former Clemons Fellows include several names familiar to BNG readers today: Rick Pidcock, Mallory Challis and David Bumgardner. Current Clemons Fellows are Mara Richards Bim, who writes frequently on immigration and justice, and Catherine Storke, who manages BNG’s social media platforms.
“One of the highlights of our work at BNG is finding, nurturing and giving experience to young writers who will be the future of our change-making conversations,” said BNG Executive Director Mark Wingfield. “Each of us — myself included — got a start because someone believed in us and gave us a chance to learn and write. We are thrilled to continue that tradition.”
