Virginia Baptist Homes is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark T. Woodard to the position of executive director of The Chesapeake, its lifecare retirement community located in Newport News. For the last several years, Woodard served as a senior human resource management consultant with Goodman & Company. Previously, he held management positions with Riverside Health System and Virginia Health Systems. Since 2001, he has served as a member of the board of trustees of Virginia Baptist Homes.
Woodard holds a degree in business management from Virginia Tech, where he graduated summa cum laude. He also holds certification as a senior professional in human resources (SPHR). A native of Newport News, Woodard is a member at North Riverside Baptist Church there and serves the Peninsula community in many volunteer positions. He and his wife, Amy, have three young sons.
The Chesapeake is one of four continuing care retirement communities owned and operated by Virginia Baptist Homes. Others are located in Richmond, Roanoke and Culpeper.
