CORRECTION: In the Feb. 24 ABP story, “BWA membership committee shares blame for SBC pull-out, says one member,” the seventh graph, reads:
“That's the first I've heard of it,” said [Denton] Lotz to the charge that the membership committee's recommendation violated the BWA constitution. “The [BWA] General Council thought it was constitutional.”
After seeing the article, Lotz said he was referring to the reporter's call as the “first he had heard” about Albert Wardin's letter, not to the charge of violating the constitution. SBC leaders, he said, have been telling him for some time that admitting CBF violated the BWA's constitution. Lotz stands by his assertion that the BWA General Council does not agree with that charge.
The correction can be made by removing the wording above and combining the seventh and eight graphs to read as follows:
Denton Lotz, BWA general secretary, said there has never been “a written rule” about not including member bodies if any other member objects. In countries where there is only one member, he said, special consideration has been given to the current member before bringing in a second body if there is conflict.
