Debate over Israel-Palestine violence highlights shifting political and religious alliances

After days of violence that took the lives of at least a dozen people in Israel and hundreds in the occupied Palestinian territories, officials in both regions finally agreed to a cease-fire that took effect on Friday (May 21). But as an uneasy peace returns to the region, debate about the conflict continues to rage here in the U.S. — including among religious communities.
