Across the Middle East and beyond, nations exert their strength, each seeking to exploit the weakness of their adversaries. As one of the leaders in today’s conflict has said, “Peace is purchased from strength. It’s not purchased from weakness…”[1] At moments like these, strength feels like survival, and weakness like death.
