A memorial service is scheduled Nov. 16 in Pennsylvania for a member of the Baptist Joint Committee on Religious Liberty who died from injuries he suffered in a fall while leaving his hotel for the BJC’s recent board meeting in Washington, D.C.
BJC board member Steven C. Case, 64, died Oct. 8 at the Medstar Washington Hospital. A member of the BJC board since 2005 and president between 2007 and 2009, Case was honored the day before with induction into the James Dunn Legacy Circle. Later he talked with friends about his commitment to the BJC over a celebration dinner at one of his favorite D.C. restaurants.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made either to the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, 200 Maryland Ave. NE #302, Washington, D.C., 20002, or Baptist Camp Lebanon, 79 Blossom Hill Road, Lebanon, N.J., 08833.
Before retiring after eight years as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, Pa., in 2013, Case served 25 years as pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Westmont, N.J., where one of his greatest joys was directing a bike camp to Martha’s Vineyard for youth sponsored by the Baptist Camp Lebanon.
Case is survived by his wife of 20 years, Diane (Taylor) Case of Mansfield, Pa. His funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16, at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Mansfield, Pa., following visitation that begins at noon.
