The Florida Baptist Convention is selling its headquarters in Jacksonville for an undisclosed price reported in the multi-millions.
Barbara Denman, director of communications for the state affiliate of the Southern Baptist Convention, said 51 percent of the proceeds will be directed to the SBC Cooperative Program unified budget.
The state convention staff, already downsized and redeployed regionally across the state by new executive director-treasurer Tommy Green, will lease new office space in Jacksonville, projected to cost about what the convention now pays for upkeep of its five-story headquarters built in 1958.
