MISSION MOMENTS

For the past three years, members of Round Oak Baptist Church in Corbin have mailed packages to local residents serving in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. Joyce Hayden, project coordinator, works at the local post office and discovered service personnel receive coffee on a regular basis. So the church decided to include coffee and other ingredients needed for a good cup along with homemade cookies in its Christmas packages. The church sent 52 packages to over 20 service personnel. A package provides supplies for an entire company. Pictured are members packing and in front of the packages sent at Christmas.

Beulah Baptist Church in Aylett recently concluded its year-long emphasis on “Living Water for Zambia,” a well-water project led by the Women on Mission, Mission Friends and Children in Action. Over $2,500 was collected for the CBF to dig wells in Africa. Children’s Ministry Day was celebrated Feb. 14 and 11 children and their leaders visited the Hospitality House in Richmond, taking handmade gifts and treats. They also visited Beulah’s oldest living member, Virginia Grist, and held a surprise birthday party. Pictured in left photo (left to right) are Cathy Bryant, Ginger Rice, Suzy Shanes and Janis Wright with the Living Water display. At right are the Missions Friends and Children in Action at the birthday party for Mrs. Grist.
