Jim Henry, former pastor of First Baptist in Orlando, Fla., and former president of the Southern Baptist Convention, will be the keynote speaker at the Southwest Evangelism Conference on Feb. 19 at First Baptist Church in Galax.
The conference will begin with breakout sessions at 3 p.m. Topics include:
• How to Reach People through Gift-Based Team Ministries
• Evangelism through the Sunday School/Bible Study
• Developing Emotionally Healthy Leadership
• The ABCs of Revival and Spiritual Emphasis
• Being a Contagious Christian
• Conducting a Worthy Business Meeting
• Positive Results through Conflict Resolution
• Parking and Paint = Power
• Getting the Most for the Vacation Bible School
At 4:30 p.m., Henry will offer a session for all to attend, “Partners in Ministry.”
After a 5:30 p.m. dinner, John Upton, executive director of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, and Henry speak during a praise and worship service. Others on the program are Gene Strickland, pastor of First Baptist, Galax; Chris Musick, pastor of Swords Creek Baptist Church; and James Cowley, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Steven Farrar will lead a community choir.
