Three students with Mid-Atlantic ties are interns this summer with the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty in Washington, D.C. Andrew Gardner of Yorktown, Va., is a senior at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., and a member of Emmaus Baptist Church in Poquoson, Va. Maddie Lea of Bushy Fork, N.C., is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and member of Salem United Methodist Church in Bushy Fork. Logan Lloyd of Newport, Tenn., is a student at Wake Forest University School of Divinity and a member of First Baptist Church in Newport.
RETIREMENT
Bill Duke has retired as pastor of Langley Baptist Church, Hampton, Va.
DEATHS
Retired Virginia Baptist pastor Kenneth F. Huneycutt died June 22 at the age of 75. He is a former pastor of Central Baptist Church, Church Road, Va., and Bethel Baptist Church, Reva, Va., from which he retired in 2004. At the time of his death, he was a member of Culpeper (Va.) Baptist Church. He was former moderator of the Shiloh Baptist Association and represented the association for seven years on the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. He is survived by his wife, Helen Williams Huneycutt; a son, Thomas A. Huneycutt; a granddaughter; two sisters; and one brother. A funeral service was held June 26 at Culpeper Baptist Church.
Frederick W. “Fritz” Teeple III died June 25 at the age of 47. He had served as youth leader at Culpeper (Va.) Baptist Church and youth minister at Chancellor Baptist Church, Fredericksburg, Va. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen “Kady” Teeple; three daughters, Kristin Joy Teeple, Kathryn Elizabeth Teeple and Kelsey May Teeple; and his parents, Frederick and Elizabeth Teeple. A memorial service was held June 29 at Covenant Funeral Service in Fredericksburg.

Melissa Willis, minister to children at Ardmore Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, N.C., celebrates 10 years of ministry there.
Victoria Atkinson White has been elected chair of the board of directors of Baptist House of Studies at Duke Divinity School in Durham, N.C. White is chaplain at Westminster Canterbury, a retirement center in Richmond, Va.
The John Leland Center for Theological Studies graduated the largest number of students in its history at its June 11 graduation at Columbia Baptist Church, Falls Church, Va. Graduates receiving a diploma in theological studies were Caleb Bittler, Joseph N. Edwards, Richard Thomas Lavoie, Michael P. Paquette, James Douglas Davis, Dennis E. Green Sr., Gregory Allan Woods and Fidel David Espinoza Chavez.
Jennifer Marie Foucher, Jonathan Neal Hilliard and William M. Orde received graduate certificates in theological studies.
Receiving master of divinity degrees were Brian Christopher Adams, Elizabeth A. Daffin, Lora L. Gravvatt, Loretta Maxine Jones, Latta C. Norton Jr., Juan L. Garcia and Ibrahim H. Macaron. Robert A. Davis, Larry O. Jimenez and Ruth R. Muhlbauer were awarded master of theological studies degrees.
ORDINATIONS
Eric Roberts, children’s pastor at Green Ridge Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va., was ordained to the ministry by the church on May 22.
Chris Gourley was ordained to the ministry on June 5 by Chamberlayne Baptist Church, Richmond, Va., where he serves as minister to youth.
