News

First Baptist Church, Rural Hall, N.C., will unite with REVO Church located in Winston-Salem on Sept. 8. The congregation will become REVO’’s North Campus located at 7105 Broad Street in Rural Hall. Wesley Johnson will be campus pastor for REVO North.

Hope Community Church, Newport News, Va., has relocated to 12300 Warwick Blvd. in Newport News. This congregation organized in 1997 had been meeting in the Living Stone Monastery at 28 Harpersville Road.

Earlier this year Richmond’s Westover Baptist Church received a $20,000 grant from the Reedy Creek Coalition and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay to re-landscape much of the front of its campus. The project will include native plant in bayscapes and rain gardens designed by Drew Harrigan of Four Winds Landscape Design. The Alliance has been working throughout the Westover Hills and Heights communities to make improvements to residential and commercial properties to significantly decrease storm water runoff that flows into Reedy Creek. Pictured is Katie Lemmert planting a snowball hydrangea at the entrance to the sanctuary — a plant that is native to the Mid-Atlantic. Additional trees and shrubs will be planted in early fall. There are plans to create a guided walk for reflection, meditation and prayer around the Westover Hills Boulevard side of the campus along with interpretive signage to explain rain gardens and bayscapes.
