The Ministers & Missionaries Benefit Board (MMBB) has announced Louis P. Barbarin will be its next executive director. He succeeds Sumner Grant following his retirement.

Bluefield College has named Francis G. Serio, a professor of dentistry and associate dean for clinical affairs from East Carolina University, as the inaugural dean for its School of Dental Medicine. Serio has served in various academic fields since 1981 and will bring more than 30 years of experience to the BC Dental School.

Col. Robert Miller is stepping down in September 2013 after 16 years as the academic dean at Fork Union Military Academy.

A father-daughter team is keeping the organ tradition alive at Rosalind Hills Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va. The congregation recently dedicated a new Rodgers 588 three-manual organ. Former church organist Rick Tomlinson played the first note on the retired organ 40 years ago and the last note on it on Feb. 24. When the congregation gathered to celebrate Palm Sunday on March 24, Tomlinson’s daughter, Diane Fritzinger, carried on the family tradition and played the first piece of music on the new organ. Tomlinson began as organist in 1962 and his daughter was called to fill the spot once held by her father in January. Tomlinson and his wife, Betty, will remain members at RHBC and serve alongside their daughter.
