I hope your readers will appreciate the series you are developing concerning pastoral changes [see page 3 of this issue]. Please do not overlook the extraordinary benefits of the intentional interim process to churches undergoing transition. As you know, it is time well-spent since time is going to pass in finding a new pastor, anyway; and is no more expensive than the outlay for their previous pastor; and brings significant, healthy self-examination and change as the church prepares for its new leader.
As a practical illustration, Winfree Memorial Baptist Church has an intentional interim minister who will be with them for about another year. So far they have added about 70 new members, budget is ahead of last year, and the transition team has launched a number of initiatives which may include building renovation, the commencement of new building plans, a contemporary service and more. The intentional interim process can foster an environment of healing, inspiration and bold advance. Please don't overlook its value during a time of pastoral change!
Many thanks!
