Laura McDaniel has been named interim executive director-treasurer of Woman's Missionary Union of Virginia.
WMUV's board of trustees made the appointment during a recent meeting. Earlene Jessee retired as executive director of the organization at the end of December.
McDaniel has been assistant executive director of WMUV since April 2005. Earlier, McDaniel, who earned a law degree from George Mason University in 1987, served as legal counsel for a Washington, D.C., insurance group. In the past she has held similar positions with contracting and construction firms in Lynchburg and California.
As assistant executive, McDaniel helped in the overall operation of WMUV, while giving priority attention to CrossRoads Camp and Conference Center. She also directed WMUV's volunteer mission connections and managed its corporate resources and partnering ventures.
