The information that the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty has declared the National Day of Prayer as unwise and unnecessary [Herald, May 12] reminds us of the old phrase, “We have met the enemy, and they is us.”
We would do well to remember a proclamation of former President Ronald Reagan for the NDP: “Prayer is today as powerful a force in our nation as it has ever been. We as a nation should never forget this source of strength.” The BJC and its like-minded ultra-liberals probably do more damage than all atheists.
