James G. Hamacher has been elected executive director of missions by the Middle District Baptist Association, a fellowship of churches in Amelia, Chesterfield and Powhatan counties and part of the city of Richmond.
Hamacher will begin his ministry June 1.
For the past 13 years Hamacher has been senior pastor of Parkwood Baptist Church in Annandale. He also has served churches in Florida and Texas.
He is a graduate of Mercer University in Macon, Ga., and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, from which he earned a doctor of ministry degree with an emphasis in marriage enrichment.
He was active in the Florida Baptist Convention and has served on the board of trustees of Florida Theological College. He also has been involved in the Pensacola Baptist Association, the Brevard Baptist Association and the Mount Vernon Baptist Association (now NorthStar) in Virginia.
Hamacher and his wife, Nancy, have three grown sons.
