On Oct. 1, Loudoun Bible Church opened with a bang in Ashburn. The opening service consisted of a heart-warming commissioning ceremony, soul-stirring gospel music, a celebratory reception featuring noted jazz artists, AJQ Jazz, and an inaugural sermon by pastor Wayne D. Wyatt.
Among the 500 worshipers in attendance were Scott York, chairman of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors; Tracy Morgan, on-air radio personality with a local FM radio station; Wayne Faison of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board staff; and Leonard N. Smith, sponsoring/
commissioning pastor.
Loudoun's initial service featured upbeat music and evangelistic preaching.
Wyatt, a native of Baltimore, is a former human resources professional at Fannie Mae who recently resigned from his position to become a full-time minister. Wyatt studied at Washington Bible College and National Louis University and is currently pursuing his doctorate in strategic leadership at Regent University.
LBC's mission statement is “Developing disciples while building community—one home at a time.” With a key focus on the community, Wyatt says, “We value those within our local communities and their spiritual, physical and emotional needs. More importantly, we value the active demonstration of compassion as modeled and taught by Christ.” LBC recently demonstrated its commitment to the Loudoun community by offering a community-based writing enrichment program for high school and college students.
Loudoun Bible Church currently holds services at 10 a.m. each Sunday at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn. Plans for building a facility in Loudoun County are in the works, with hopes of having a permanent residence within the next three to five years.
