The Center for Baptist Heritage & Studies announces publication of the fourth issue of Heritage Seekers magazine, which is designed for children in 3rd through 6th grades and their parents. The new issue features the story of Lott Cary and his background with Virginia and Liberia.
“Developing Leadership” is the theme of the new issue and is designed to help parents and churches teach children how to take a stand for God throughout their life. Suggestions for living out this principle are found in the “Family Guide” along with a lesson for use in the local church. Some churches are creating heritage clubs while others are using the magazine as part of their mission program or Sunday school. To discover ways your church can teach children to be Heritage Seekers, contact Jon Messer, education coordinator for the Center.
The latest issue is $7, including shipping. Individuals may subscribe for $20 a year, which includes four issues. The first four issues also are available as a set and can be ordered for $24, including shipping. Issue one features “James Ireland and Religious Liberty,” issue two features “Nannie Helen Burroughs and Working Together,” issue three features “William Carey and Reaching Out to Others” and issue four features “Lott Cary and Developing Leadership.” The next issue will highlight missionary Lottie Moon in a theme on “Personal Commitment.”
Each issue focuses on one Baptist principle through the stories of historical and contemporary Baptists. Children encounter the rich Baptist heritage that preceded them while learning how they can live their own heritage for future generations.
