Church News
Beaver Dam Church, Troy, will have a Heritage Day Celebration on Oct. 29 as it observes the 175th anniversary of the Upper Beaver Dam Meeting House. That Sunday at 8:30 a.m. the 19th Virginia Infantry, Company B, Army of Northern Virginia Re-enactors, “The Albemarle Rifles,” will set up camp for visitors. There will also be vintage cars on display. Fred Anderson, executive director of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society, portraying William E. Hatcher will arrive on horseback at 9:15. The Heritage Day service begins is at 9:30 and will include a concert by Dominion, special music by Susanne Glass on the dulcimer and Cindy Hickman on the autoharp and several presentations depicting persons prominent in the church's history. Lunch will follow in the fellowship hall.
West Main Church, Danville, will have a dedicatory recital of its renovated organ featuring James W. Good of Raleigh, N.C., on Nov. 5 at 4 p.m.

Charlie Benton has announced his retirement as pastor of Drummondtown Church, Accomac, effective Dec. 31.
