Your interview with a military man was really one-sided [“Virginia Baptist deacon heads Guantanamo detainee boards,” Herald, March 30].
Haven't you read reports from foreign and American journalists and many, many other reports — including the Red Cross?
The military uses a system of social control called “unit cohesion” to control volunteers to conform and to never criticize or speak against.
Your friend from the military has a point — but that point is only the “unit cohesion” point of view.
Dr. White, you are a good man, a good pastor and a good denominational leader of “loyalty cohesion,” but not a journalist — my impression. Sorry to be frank. Blessings on you and your state paper.
