LOUISVILLE, Ky., (ABP) – Retired New Testament professor and author James Blevins died July 24 after a long illness. He was 67.
A native of Hot Coal, W.Va., Blevins was professor of New Testament interpretation at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary when he retired. He began his teaching career at Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, N.C, as a professor of religion from 1969-1974.
Blevins, author of several books, received his master of divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Ph.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; two daughters, Jennifer Blevins Sinski and Cynthia Blevins Doll; a son, James F. Blevins III; four grandchildren and two sisters.
