Representatives of Southern Baptist churches regularly affirm their belief that life begins at conception as well as their opposition to abortion. Next week, they coincidentally will be gathering in Birmingham at a time when the national spotlight is focused on a new Alabama law that would make it a felony to perform most abortions.
